Check Out What's in My Bag!

My girl Sarah over at Cupcakes Taste Nice had a great idea for a way to keep her blog going while she is on vacay. She is asking her reader to post pictures of their makeup bags and what in them. I thought, how fun, especially since I just bought a new camera! Thanks to Lilan from The Daily Cookie for recommending her digi, I now am the proud owner of a Canon Power Shot SD750. So far I love it, espeically the HUGE 3" display screen.

Anyways back to my purse! I am currently still looking for the perfect makeup bag, so I literally just have all my products thrown in the bottom of my purse. Terrible I know! So I did the whole contents of my beloved black Francesco Biasa (in no particular order):-Micheal by Micheal Kors sunnies, the only big sunglasses that sit on my nose and not my cheeks
-Hobo wallet, I just love the opalescent color
-Advil, tampon, allergy meds, gum, ya know basics
-Nvey Eco Organic Erase Concealer in Neutral, a great pan concealer for when serious coverage is needed
-Cargo Wet/Dry Powder Foundation in 20
-Make Up For Ever Lift Concealer in 2, just picked it up, will review soon!
-Bvlgari Au The Blanc Refreshing Towel, they were handing them out at Sephora, thought I'd keep it in my bag for a smelly day... hope it smells good!
-MAC Tendertones Lip Balm in E-Z Baby, an almost colorless shine and tons of moisture gloss
-Philosophy Lip Gelato Soul Mates Grapefruit, a super shiny gloss that tastes delish
-Philosophy Kiss Me Red Lip Balm, a touch of color but mostly moisture as well
-Rosebud Salve, a classic balm even the boys can enjoy without feeling girly
(Gosh, can you tell I love/need/have to have lip stuff with me at all times?!?)
-Fresh Firebird Mascara, a free sample I just got today. Can't wait to try it out! Not available yet in stores.

CARGO Powder Foundation

After my less than successful attempt at picking out a new powder foundation from MUFE, I went back to Sephora last week and tried again. This time I spent a bit more time and tested out a few powders on my face before I purchased anything.

I ended up picking out a pressed powder compact foundation by CARGO. I've gotten used to using loose mineral powders but it is nice to have a compact that you can throw in your purse without getting everything messy. This particular one can be used wet or dry, but I've just tried it dry so far. I use a brush first and lightly cover my whole face to cut shine and even out the tone. Then I've been using the sponge that comes with it to cover any blemishes or other areas where I want a bit more coverage. So far I like it. The color I picked is good, 20, but I still need to use bronzer since my face is so much whiter than the rest of me. All in all, I'd recommend this as a good basic powder foundation and it comes in quite a few tones so you'll probably be able to find a good match. At $28 its not cheap, but not super expensive either.

Earth-loving Lipstick

A new line from Cargo called Plant Love is all about being earth friendly. The lipsticks are cased in a tube made entirely of corn. Whats more, the box that they come in sprout wildflowers if you plant them. Talk about natural beauty!

10 of the shades were designed by a female celebrity and 9 of them after places of ecological beauty. My favorite beauty of TV right now, Kim Raver of Lipstick Jungle, did Cherry Bliss, a sheer cherry. Then their is a sheer spiced mauve, names Muir Woods, the beautiful California forest named after John Muir, one the first modern preservationists.

Try one out today, at Sephora (where else?! I know, I have a problem...)

Hi-Def Your Makeup

Seems like everyone is jumping on the High Definition bandwagon. That's right, even makeup companies are using the advancement of this new technology to sell cosmetics! Cargo just came out with a new line of makeup called The blu_ray™ Collection. Here is what they have to say about it:

"The revolutionary new collection from CARGO cosmetics, blu_ray™, was created especially for filming in high-definition. The professional-quality makeup covers imperfections while looking completely natural—since any heavy coverage is amplified in hi-def—and the result is radiant skin. CARGO's The blu_ray™ Collection is ideal for weddings, special events, or for flawless everyday beauty."

The pressed powder looks intriguing and so does the HD mattifier but right now the powder only comes in one color, a "neutral beige." (I think the mattifier is clear.) I am all for makeup that is good for your skin and still looks good on camera, but its sounds a bit like a marketing ploy to me. What do you think, ladies?
