Pur Minerals Makeup and Skincare

In the summertime, my skin needs constant care. One minute it is oily and shiny, the next minute it is dry and flaky. It is so frustrating, especially when I am traveling! This is why I appreciate products that can serve more than one purpose. Both products I tried from the Pur Minerals line do just that! And they are both great for my combination-nightmare skin.

Pur Minerals Pur Polish is an exfoliating wash that can be used from head to toe! It is gentle enough to use daily in the shower on my face, or smother all over my body. It is made of natural ingredients like aloe vera, naturally exfoliating citrus oils and the soothing vitamins A and E. My finicky face always feels amazing and refreshed after a quick scrub down with Pur Polish. And priced at $21.50 for 8 fl oz, it is a good deal. My only complaint is that the pump on mine doesn't seem to work. I just unscrewed it and used the tube inside as a spatula of sorts which works ok, especially in the shower.

Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation with SPF 15 boasts that it is a foundation, concealer, powder and SPF all in one product. This is perfect for girls who want minimal fuss when it comes to makeup and sunscreen. I like that it is a mineral powder compact, instead of loose, making it much more portable. The color they sent me was a bit too dark, so I used it when I got a bit of sun the other week. It went on pretty smooth with a brush and coverage was between light and heavy. I stayed fairly shine free all day and it covered up most of my imperfections. It would be a great item to throw in your overnight bag for that weekend at the beach/shore. H20 Plus Fun in the Sun Products

I'm back, after a little hiatus... everyone needs a break sometimes. I spent the last 3 days swaying about on a houseboat on Lake Shasta with 20 awesome people. Needless to say I was in need of sun products on my trip! Lucky for me the folks at H20 Plus hooked it up just in time for my adventure. I have been using H2o Plus' SPF 30 Face everyday as a moisturizer, so I knew that their products had to come on the boat with me as well. The SPF 45 Body was great for long hours laying about on the top deck and the After Sun Body Serum was a lifesaver afterward. It's aloe and vitamin E formula is not sticky in the slightest, yet it is oil free, so I don't have to worry about it making me breakout. As a bonus, it is non-scented, so even my guys friends could use it, if they had too much fun in the sun. Even though I protected my face as best I could, I still got a bit of a sunglasses tan going on now. I'm going to try H2o Plus' Sunless Tan Face tonight and see if I can get it to even me out a bit! And when my legs start to lose what little color I did get, I will test out the Sunless Tan Body too!

The Body Deli - Skincare products so natural you could almost eat them

Like to eat fresh? Organic? Raw, whole foods? Well, why not use them on your body too? The Body Deli has created a line of skincare and body care products made of fresh, organic, raw ingredients. When my skin was freaking because it was so dry, I reached for the Creme de la Rose. Normally, this luxurious cream would have been too heavy for me but my skin was extra thirsty from the dry heat. I used it only at night and it kept the tightness I was feeling at bay. So, if you want a heavy cream with tons of anti-aging benefits, from the oils of pure organic steam distilled bulgarian rose, moroccan rose geranium and sandalwood from India, try this out. You'll feel like you are using a cream meant for a queen.

Another lotion I tried was the Solar Defense Day Cream. We all know what a big fan I am of moisturizers that include a sunscreen. Who wants to put two products on when one can do the job just fine?! My typically slightly oily skin likes the lightness of this lotion and the fact that is blends in fast. No to mention it includes anti-oxidants such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Superoxide Dimutase, which work to neutralize free radical damage and improve the health and vitality of the complexion. Yeah, that's right! Nature does good work!

Protect Yourself From The Rays

Well, it is deliciously sunny and beautiful in SF right. Although I miss Cabo's warm warm sunshine and being able to lounge on the beach all day, the SF sun will have to do. I wore spf 30 on my face the entire time I was there and it seems to have protected me from the sun quite well. I definitely got a little color everywhere else though! I'm such a sucker for a tan... but not on my face! I don't want wrinkles when I'm 30 or cancer when I'm 40... no way! So here are some great products to protect your youthful mug:


Aveeno Sunblock Lotion, Face, Continuous Protection SPF 30: All three of us wore this on our faces everyday and no one got even a bit pink in the face. It lasted all day at the beach, even when I was too distracted to re-apply after being out for 5 plus hours. It has a nice subtle smell and doesn't feel greasy or leave any kind of layer on your skin. I'm definitely bring this one with me next trip to the beach!


LORAC ProtecTINT SPF 30 Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer: A great quick way to protect your face and get some coverage is a tinted moisturizer with an SPF. This one is cool because it comes in a wide variety of colors. Since I'm pretty fair, most tinted moisturizers are too dark. But this one comes in 5 different shades. Niiiice.


Fresh Sugar Lip Balm SPF 15: People often forget they have to protect thier pout as well. Even in the reflective snow, lips can get burned. Fresh's lip balm blends moisturizing oils with wax and a sunscreen, prefect for any day (warm or cold) out in the sun. Plus it tasting delish!

Vacation Must-Haves

I'm about to go on a lovely little getaway before I start my new job and I am sooo excited. It's been ages since I had a real vacation and even longer since I spent it on the beach! I leave extremely early Friday morning and so I need to start packing today. Of course, I am thinking about the beauty items that are a must have for a relaxing fun vacay in Cabo! Here are a few I know I'll be toting (and causing me to check my bag...grrr!):

Purpose Facial Moisturizer, Redness Reducing SPF 30: I love this face lotion because it is super gentle, won't clog my pores and has SPF 30! I don't really need to reduce redness but I trust Purpose to give me a gimmic-free face lotion that will protect me from the sun!

Coppertone Sunblock Lotion Oil Free SPF 15: This sunblock is an old stand by for me. It won't clog pores, it's waterproof, and its not greasy or thick like some other sunscreens out there. I put it on before heading out to the beach and then re-apply a few hours in and all I get is a nice golden tan, no burn! Wahoo! Can't wait to get rid of this pastey-whiteness.

The Body Shop's Body Butter in Coconut: I swear by this stuff as an after sun bathing soother. It smells tropical and delish and moisturizes the heck out of your skin after the sun has dried it out.

Stila Sun Bronzing Powder SPF 15: Since I'll be protecting my face from almost all sun, I want to bring along a lovely bronzing powder to mimic the effect of the mexican rays. This one is gorgeous and has added sun protection!

Now I just need to find the perfect sun dress and I'll be on my way to Cabo.... Yay!
