Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer

The other week I went to grab my trusty Urban Decay Primer Potion from my makeup case and it was missing. I knew the culprit was most likely my rascally kitten whose favorite game is to knock things on the ground and bat them around, usually into a dark corner of my closet. So I was forced to go for plan b, Too Faced Shadow Insurance for my eye primer. It comes in a small tube and since I hadn't used it in awhile, the first bit was all oil. Yuck! I closed it up and squeezed it a bunch to mix it up again. The consistency was better, but still much more wet then UDPP. A little goes a long way and I ended up squeezing out too much the first few times I used it. It did seem to keep my shadow from fading throughout the day but I didn't like how oily it felt. Today, looking for an umbrella in my closet (rainy season has offically started in SF, boo hoo!), I found my UDPP! Needless to say, I reverted back to my old ways but I'll keep the Too Faced Shadow Insurance around for "rainy days." All in all, I think it is a decent eye primer that does the job well, but not a fabulous as my fav.

Too Faced's Betsy Baby Eyeshadow Duo Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

I love when beauty products have a story behind them. The story behind this shadow is especially touching:

"Too Faced's brand founder, Jerrod Blandino, created Betsy Baby for one of his closest friends, Sephora's Betsy Olum. In 2007, the Sr. Vice President of Marketing was diagnosed with breast cancer. During Betsy's trying time, Jerrod was one of her top supporters. And, during one of their many heart-to-heart chats, Betsy jokingly asked if Jerrod would bring back her favorite discontinued Too Faced shadow, Heiress. Jerrod happily obliged, and worked with Betsy to develop the perfect highlighting-accent color. Now a fierce duo (just like Jerrod and Betsy), it's been renamed Betsy Baby in honor of her battle and triumph over breast cancer."

So, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, I went down to Sephora on Friday and picked one up! It is quite a lovely pink pair and I wish I could tell you how good they looked on, but I left it on my dresser and now I fear my kitten has knocked it off and batted it around into some dark corner of my bedroom. Hopefully I will find it and enjoy the colors, knowing how much good I did. Not only did both Betsy and Jerrod pledge to donate $3 for every shadow sold, so did Sephora, for a total of $9 out of the price of $17 being donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. That is awesome. Now I just wish I could find it...

Too Faced Lash Injection Pinpoint Mascara

It seems like every month brands are coming out with new ways to coat and paint your lashes. I've noticed that the biggest and best innovation for mascaras have been with the way the formulas are applied, i.e. the brush material and shape.

I've heard great things about Too Faced's Lash Injection mascara but I've never gotten around to trying it. I only have so many lashes to test on, ya know?! So when I was offered the opportunity to try out the lasted version of their legendary formula, I jumped. Lash Injection Pinpoint Extreme Defining, Volume & Lengthening Mascara is unique because of its tiny sleek "pinpointed" brush. At first, it felt weird to use but once I got the hang out it, I loved it. You have to use lots of little strokes but the effect is great. You can literally get to all your lashes, even those tiny ones in the corners, without getting mascara on your face! It grabs on to lashes you didn't even know existed and draws them out and curls them up! I even did my lower lashes for a night out and the effect was dramatic without being spidery or over done. And a huge plus, since this is the type of mascara that forms tubes around your lashes, it doesn't smear or fall down after a few hours. It comes off pretty easily with makeup remover and a little rubbing. It costs a measly $19.50 and currently only available at Sephora.
