Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion's new shade

Being such a huge fan of Urban Decay's original eyeshadow primer portion, I practically ran to Sephora when I heard they were coming out with a new shade, Sin. My basic everyday shadow is a champagne shimmer anyways, so the idea of my primer being a shimmer makes sense. Now I can get a little extra shimmer by using Sin under my favorite frosts and shimmers, and save my original UDPP for those days I want a more matte look. The staying power is consistant, and I could see wearing Sin alone if I'm in a super rush, although lets be honest, I always make time to do my eyes! A little goes along way, but I like that I can use it as a brow highlighter as well. All in all, a great new product, but same slightly frustrating bottle design. Oh well.

Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Glitter Liner

Need something to brighten up your look? Go a little outside your your comfort zone and add a little glitter to your life. I swear, it doesn't make you look like a drag queen. It more so looks like you don't take this makeup stuff so seriously. Have fun with Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Glitter Liners. I got spandex, a colorful glitter with a dark grey base. I draw on the liquid over my black or blue liner, since its not very dark alone. I am definitely going to try some more colors, to make some more fun, colorful looks happen.

Urban Decay's Urban Essentials Collection

In celebration of Sephora's 10 year anniversary in the USA, a bunch of brands put together limited edition products and collections. I scanned the huge 2 page add in my October Allure, and knew right away what I wanted: Urban Decay's Urban Essentials: Eyeshadow set! It comes with two of their super pigmented and sparkly shadow pots: Goddess (midnight blue with lots of electric-blue microglitter) and Midnight Cowboy (subtle golden-beige with gold glitter). And the best part: a giant bottle of Primer Potion! This is the only way to get the potion in such a large bottle, which I am hoping will be a better shape for getting all the product out. I haven't yet resorted to cutting the smaller bottles open, and since this set is only $39, I don't really need to! Yay for mondo sizes and glittery shadows!

Urban Decay's Primer Potion's Unfortuanate Bottle

If you are an avid browser and shopper of Sephora.com you'll have noticed a new feature they have added to their site. Now you can post reviews of your favorite Sephora products... or discourage others from buying things you hate. So my new favorite online activity is to read what other people have to say about the products I love or want.

I am a huge beliver in Urban Decay's Primer Potion as a base for fabulous eye color without any worry that it is going to fade or run. You apply a bit with the wand provided and then rub in with your fingers. Reviews on Sephora.com agree with me, its a winner. The only major complaint they have I completely agree with: The shape of the bottle is totally unpractically! It hides good, usable product that you can't reach with the wand.

One reviewer linked to a youTube video where someone actually demonstrated this! Once the bottle was seemingly empty, they actually cut the bottle in half and scoped out all the unused product still left in the bottle! I did some youTube searching of my own and found countless copycats! Crazy huh? Well, maybe Urban Decay will catch on and change the shape of the bottle so we can actually use all $16 of the UDPP!

Bored With Your Lashes? Try These!

Cosmetics companies are also coming up with new ways to improve your looks. Sometimes its with formulas, sometimes its with packaging and sometimes its with entirely new products. Here are some interesting things I've come across lately in the world of LASHES:

Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes Mascara: This is the weirdest brush I've ever seen. Apparently, this tiny brush helps to curl and separate your lashes to perfection. I'd be willing to try it just for the novelty. Only available at Sephora.

Model Co Lash Wand Heated Eyelash Curler: I'm not sure about heat getting that close to my eye, but if it gives gorgeous curly lashes I just might try it. Only available online.

Urban Decay Skyscraper Mascara: This seemingly ordinary mascara has a special ingredient: shu extract. This the ancient Chinese herb that promotes health, pigmentation and prevents hair loss. Might be hocus-pocus but it sounds convincing.

Color Is In The Air

Just like I loved Bottega Veneta's lilac eyes yesterday, I am loving the trend towards highly bright pigmented eyes and lips. Sephora's big ads right now are all about "Makeup As Art" and I just love it. You should be afraid of going a little bright once in awhile. Its your chance to show off the wild side and go a little color crazy! Here are some products I love for creating these highly pigmented bright looks:

Make Up For Ever Flash Color is a cream color that delivers highly dramatic shades for a unique and unforgettable look. I love the Bright Blue and Fuchsia!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils provide excellent color for your most fabulous looks. Urban has been shocking is customers for years now with over the top, wow-worthy colors and these pencils are no disappointment. I love Gunmetal and Lush the best but they are all lust worthy!

Lancome Color Fever Shine has a lot of color with being too over the top because it's still sheer. The more vibrant shades can be worn to follow this highly pigmented trend and still stay within the bounds of "pretty". I would try Pink In The Limo or Rock Icon Fuchsia for some serious color! Not to mention the packaging is so cute!

New Years Fun With Blue

So here is the look I did for New Years:

I used:

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

MAC Holiday 2005 eyeshadow palette in Cool Eyes (a light shimmer blue all over, and a navy in the crease)

Upper lash line: Urban Decay Liquid Eyeliner in Radium

Lower lash line: Sephora brand cream eyeshadow pen in Pink, and a bit of MAC e/s in Phloof!

MAC Zoomlash Mascara

Pretty fun, yeah? I thought so... but definitely not an everyday look.

Happy New Years!

I'm not a huge fan of New Year's Eve. I feel like there is so much pressure to have a good time, go super big and fabulous, that it's more likely to be a disappointment than the best night of the year. But I am starting to get excited for tonight. My friends roped me into going to one of the big, fancy, over-the-top parties in SF. I am mostly excited to get all dolled up, drink bubbly with my girls, and pretend we are fabulously wealthy and important (there is even a red carpet and everything at this party!). I am wearing the same dress I wore to my company holiday party, since I got so many compliments and hardly anyone saw me. It is a fabulous royal blue coctail dress that just shines in pictures, especially when everyone else is wearing LBDs, as they often do. I got some fab pewter patent leather pumps and a gorgeous smokey jewelled necklace to go with, but I am most excited about the new eyeliner I picked up (of course!). It is Urban Decay's Liquid Eyeliner in Radium, a metallic royal blue, because it matches my dress perfectly! I am a little nervous to try out a new look for tonight but I figure, why not?! I'm thinking a smokey eye that incorporates the bright blue liner, and lots of shimmer and sparkle. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hope everyone has a wonderful New Years! Party Lovely!

Eyes on the Prize

I have had one of the worse weeks of my life makeup-wise. I woke up Monday unable to put my contacts in because of some infection/virus thing. All week I have been bumbling around, half blind in my glasses (they are the wrong Rx and they don't fit quite right... not a good combo!) unable to wear any eye makeup! I am slowing dieing inside. To top it off, my face is breaking out a bit. Ugh. I feel like such a mess. So right now I am dreaming of the makeup can't use.

The Urban Decay Urban Ammo Eye Palette has their top 10 shadows. I want! I want! So pretty! Their eyeshadows are full of pigment and fun and sparkely. And really, I can always justify a new eyeshadow palette.

I really want to try out a new Mascara, like Dior's Diorshow Blackout Mascara and probably after the infection, I should! (Ew, right?!) Anyone have suggestions for new mascara's to try? I want volume, volume, volume, and a bit of length. Oh, and SUPER black.

With my new obsession for pot eyeliners, I should just go ahead and get Smashbox's Cream Eye Liner Palette and go nuts with new colors, that is, when my eyes heal.

I think I want to try a eyeshadow primer. Anyone know of a good one? I don't want anything with color, just something to create a smooth, silky base for eyeshadows adhere to. Bare Escentuals bareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer looks like it might work well. But I'm open to suggestions.

So until my doctor clears me, I'll just dream of all the products I can't use. Have a good weekend everyone, and think of poor old me when you apply that eyeliner. Boo Hoo. ;(
