Product Review: DuWop's Revolotion Face

As I mentioned a few weeks back, eLuxury.com screwed up my order and I got $30 credit on their site. So I took advantage and ordered DuWop's Revolotion Face after reading rave reviews on a few other beauty blogs. I figured since it's becoming winter (sniff sniff), I might want a little more coverage than my usually concealer, moisturizer and powder. Well I have to say I'm not wowed by this product at all. It is not lightweight the way I expect a tinted moisturizer to be and it makes my skin feel a little sticky. But I have found a good way to use it: mix it with my Purpose moisturizer. That way it has a thinner coverage, so I don't feel like a clown, and the texture is much improved. You can do this with any foundation, just be sure to blend the two products together really well in your palm, so it goes on even!

Its all about Good Service!

I ordered DuWop's Payoff, a liquid eyeshadow intensifier from eLuxury.com the other week because it came with a free set of cute lip glosses that I figured were worth the $5 shipping charge (the GWP seems to be still available...check it out!). I was right, the lip glosses are cute and the compact they come in is pretty. But when I went to check out the Payoff, the cap was broken and the bottle was empty! So I called eLuxury to complain and get instructions on how to return the bottle and get a replacement. They were very nice and helpful. They are sending me a new one right away, at no charge, and I don't have to send the broken one back. They even gave me a $30 credit for the trouble. This is why it pays to shop at establishments that take pride in their customer service. As a former Nordstrom employee, I know to value of great service and I reward companies that put the customer first. I will most certainly go back and shop at eLuxury, even if I can't afford most of there items. Hello $2,000 handbags! But I will put my $30 to good use, probably on DuWop's Revolotion Face. I just have to go to Sephora and test colors. How could I buy a foundation online without knowing what my shade is?!

Fall Makeup Trends from Style.com

Once again Style.com has concisely listed all the trends I have been spotting for this Fall season. They list 12 trends and a few products for each to help you achieve the look on their Beauty School page. While I don't like or agree with some of them (red hair? only if your born with it!), there are a few that I must share.

Smokey Eyes: They were all over the shows both in the fall and spring. I love a good smokey eye, especially when you throw in a little color to mix it up a bit. They recommended Smashbox's Master Class Expert Eyes Kit, Stila's Smokey Eye Palette, and DuWop Payoff Eyeshadow Enhancer, which I just ordered off eLuxury.com (they are offered a free gift with any DuWop purchase, while supplies last!).

Bed Head: Messy, matte hair has been showing up everywhere, even on the red carpet I'm afraid. I kinda like the look, especially if my haircut has chunky layers, and the products I use add massive volume. They recommend John Frieda's Sheer Blonde Tousled Tresses Fine Mist Wax (I'll have to try!) , Bumble and Bumble's Hair Powder, and Aveda's Pure Abundance Hair Potion (I love this stuff! The perfect product for this look, without any sticky clumpy residue!).

Fresh, Clean Face: As my friend pointed out to me, the more makeup you have on, the older you look. So I would love to look like I'm wearing no foundation at all! Style.com recommends these products to help you achieve a fresh, glowing, bare-looking complexion: Philosophy's The Microdelivery Multi-Use Peel Pads to exfoliate dead skin cells and sooth and protect new skin, Bare Escentuals bareVitamins Prime Time face primer, and Clinique's Supermoisture makeup to get the bare, dewy look you want with just enough coverage for your imperfections (who doesn't have some!).

wow them with your brows

I never did anything to my brows, except pluck the heck out of them, until a few years back. A was at a Benefit counter, and the salesperson insisted I use something to enhance my brows. She said that a bit of color and wax could lengthen my overly plucked brows and make my eyes stand out more. Since my intensely blue eyes are my favorite feature, I was all for it! So I purchased Benefit's Brow Zings. I used this occasionally, but never got used to the look, possibly because the color I bought was slightly too dark (It is possible that at the time, they only had two color choices, and the lightest one wasn't light enough for me...now the Light looks online to be fairly light).

Time pasted and my Brow Zings had long gone bad... you know what smell I'm talking about. But I had started using a bit for some shape and color enhancement. A little touch up on your brows really does make all the difference. I read on some blog about DuWop's BrowWow set and I knew I had to try it. So I ran over to Sephora, my home away from home, and picked it up. The Light color works perfect for my hair/skin tone (blonde, blue eyed and fair), and I love the highlighter that comes with it! You just touch a little under your brows with your finger, and voila! Perfection!
