Along with my Light Flush Mineralize Skinfinish, I picked up a Paint Pot in Bare Study with my online order at maccosmetics.com (join their email list and you'll get free shipping codes all the time). I was doubtful because I have tried other creamy eye products with less than stellar results. They tend to crease like crazy on my eyelids and make any product applied on top cake too much. But many trusted MAC lovers swear by paint pots as both a base for eyeshadow and even as a substitute for gel eyeliner.
The paint pot preformed up to its reputation. Bare Study is a similar frosty pinkish color to my favorite MAC eyeshadow, Phloof!, so when I wear them together, it makes for one bright, frosty look! My eyeshadow seems to last longer when applied over the paint pot but I'm not sure it is worth the application process every day. I tried with a brush, but it seems to be easier to use my finger tip. A little goes along way, otherwise it gets cakey and un-smooth. I think I might be up to trying some other shades, especially a matte one, which might have a different consistency. Let me know what you think about paint pots.

Paint Pots are amazing, especially as a base for eyewear. I use the nude paint pot color almost every day (but watch out, it's almost always sold out in stores) and it makes eye shadow look smoother, makes color stand out more and creates a long lasting look. I've found paintpot color is best applied with a small, flat tip brush. It's a quick option that just makes the whole eye makeup process so much easier, especially when you're trying to create a bright and vibrant look. HOnestly, I don't know what I did without them.
what is the name of the nude color you use, katiekoo?
Hey Beth!
katiekoo may be referring to Painterly, which I use as a base for my shadows on a regular basis (if I'm not using Beige-ing shadestick, that is).
I'm getting ready to try colored Paint Pots, vs. natural ones, to see how I like them. Everyone's raving about them so I thought I'd venture out and use it for more than just a base :)
Yup it's Painterly and it's utterly amazing. Like Nila cookie, I'm getting ready to use the colored paintpots except all my extra makeup cash flow is going to Mac's fantastic Fafi collection which is running out QUICK! If you haven't seen it check it out. My favorite color, a sheeny bright pink lipstick called Fun-N-Sexy is already out. Sigh. I'll have to live with the single lipstick I bought at the launch party!
bare study is one of my fave cream bases. when i don't want any "shimmer," i use "painterly" or my new fave "soft ochre."
i'm a new lover to these paint pots. originally they crease on me, but using it over UDPP it has been nothing short of amazing... gah... i want more!! perky is my fave so far from the Fafi collection ;) i really didn't need another product to lem after
